especially unmerited,

The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread.

...Democrats and Republicans have been locked in a slogan fight that has left us polarized and paralyzed. We must do better! We must expect evidence-based policy, not slogans.

Three years ago I started a website,, that provides evidence-based policy for people who are not policy wonks. There you can learn how I connect evidence to policy. You can choose a single issue by clicking on the menu on the right side of this page. I especially hope you will read the article on Wealth and Taxation.

For most issues, I find that evidence is decisive and should direct the work to be done. At times, there is evidence to consider that limits our choices, but may not be decisive. Most of these issues are being decided by state legislatures or the Supreme Court and should not be an issue in this campaign. As a voter, I want to know that a candidate understands evidence, because most of the issues legislators decide come up after the election and are not campaign issues. However, I have written a few articles that are not entirely evidence-based and do not belong on You may find them here.

And thank you for reading this far.
